Viva Las Vegas! Enter the casino and place your bets. Casino movies are notorious for overdramatizing wins and losses. But we can’t blame them really, because it’s the action, excitement and drastic losses that keep us glued to the film for 90 or so minutes.
Casino is a 1995 American epic crime film directed by Martin Scorsese, produced by Barbara De Fina and distributed by Universal Pictures.The film is based on the nonfiction book Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas by Nicholas Pileggi, who also co-wrote the screenplay for the film with Scorsese.It stars Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, Joe Pesci, Don Rickles, Kevin Pollak and James Woods. All the very best casino movie scenes ever. We love a casino movie. They somehow always bring all of the emotions – we find ourselves swinging from nervous laughter to cheering celebrations, and of course, the stomach-sinking feeling that comes with a loss. The film takes place in the (fictional) Tangiers casino, but in one of the scenes in Robert De Niro's character's office, you can clearly see a calendar for the Riviera (the movie. Gimme Shelter (1970) while the song 'Gimme Shelter' plays, the cops kill a man holding a sandwich, then it is rewound and there is a frreze frame in which we zoom in on the sandwich, exaclty like the Maysles do in the movie, 'Gimme Shelter' to show Mick Jagger the man in the green suit holding the gun, and the Hell's Angel with the knife. Casino (Martin Scorsese, 1995). Given that this is a movie entirely about the casino business, specifically its mob ties in the ’60s and ’70s and about one prominent casino boss, there are too many great scenes to even list here.

Con Air
Nick Cage is pretty much one of our favorite actors. Here we find him plating Cameron Poe, a parolee on his way home accompanied by a plane full of death row criminals. The ragtag group gets to Vegas after an explosion forces an emergency landing.
The final sequence which involves an epic high-speed chase through Vegas (past all the casinos, hotels and various sights) is one of our all-time favorite Vegas movies ever.
Rain Man
Rain Man is a pop-culture phenomenon and another famous Vegas movie The Hangover actually nods to our favorite scene from Barry Levinson’s 1988 movie. We’re gagged when Charlie (Tom Cruise) and his brother Ray (Dustin Hoffman) head to Las Vegas to earn themselves enough cash to pay off Charlie’s debts.
With Ray counting cards in a blackjack game we were at the edge of our seats as to whether he’d earn the $80k they needed or not.

Martin Scorsese’s movie Casino might just be the very best Las Vegas movie of all time. The actual casino scenes in Casino are few and far between which makes them that bit more special. Our favorite scene is any and all featuring Oscar winner Sharon Stone who portrays Sam’s wife, Ginger.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Hunter S. Thompson was a writer like no other. A mythical figure in his own right, he lived the stories he put down on paper and invented an entirely new style of writing as the pioneer of gonzo journalism.
To keep his belly fire burning, Thompson consumed a cocktail of Chivas Regal, Dunhills, cocaine, orange juice, marijuana, Heineken, hideous mounds of food, LSD, Chartreuse, clove cigarettes, gin, and pornographic movies, culminating in great works such as the gonzo masterpiece Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
As a sprawling, hilarious tirade on the failure of the American Dream, Thompson wrote the piece in response to a sports writing assignment – a roman à clef that’s rooted in autobiographical musings.

Over 25 years after Thompson unleashed the book upon an unprepared America, director Terry Gilliam (The Man Who Killed Don Quixote) adapted the novel into a big-screen hit, about an oddball journalist and his psychopathic lawyer who travel to Las Vegas for a series of psychedelic escapades. It’s not strictly a casino movie but there’s plenty of insane casino hotels for you to feast your eyes on.

Swingers
Such a classic film, Swingers is really where we were introduced to the magic that is Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn together. Trent (Vaughn) drags Mike (Favreau) to Vegas. Because where else can you break out of a funk?
The two manage to find the most depressing casino ever, and then Mike still manages to embarrass himself at a $100 minimum bet table.

Trent’s declaration that you “always double down on 11” has become part of the blackjack lexicon, making this one of the most iconic and hilarious casino scenes of all time.
Ocean’s Eleven
The poker scene at the beginning of Ocean’s Eleven with Brad Pitt & George Clooney is just classic Hollywood, the intro to the first installment of the franchise. It’s a friendly game between buddies before Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and the squad pull off the full-blown heist.
There are a lot of great quotable lines in the game; one of the fan favorites is “I’m not sure what four nines do, but the ace I think is pretty high.”
Rain Man
Rain Man has all the feels anyway, so the casino scene gets us good. Dustin Hoffman’s Ray doesn’t quite know what he’s doing in the casino, and yet, he manages to make some magic happen.
Complete with matching suits, Ray and Charlie (Tom Cruise) take on the casino, and find themselves in one of their biggest bonding moments. Charlie has to let Ray take the lead, and when he says “hit me” over and over again, our stomachs are tied up in knots. Ray’s genius math skills save the day and we feel like our hearts might just explode.
The Hangover
The Hangover’s take on the Rain Man casino scene is one of our favorites of all time. The oddball of the group of partiers, who’s also the groom’s brother, Alan (played brilliantly by Zach Galifianakis), has read a book on counting cards, so they head off to a blackjack table.
Complicated equations appear on the screen as Alan watches the cards intently. Finally, he sits down, calls his friends in, and starts betting big. This scene elevates to one of our favorites when his buddy Phil (Bradley Cooper) screams, “He can’t lose!”, and Heather Graham quite literally is knocked off her feet.
Tombstone
Easily one of the very best westerns of all time, and one of Val Kilmer’s best roles, the gambling scene in Tombstone has Kilmer’s Doc Holiday hitting the highest levels of drunkenness. After an epic 36 straight hours of poker, he’s feeling pretty good, and still his hilariously wry self.

In a movie full of Holiday’s hilarious one-liners, Holiday rattles off one of the very best in this scene, “Maybe poker just isn’t your game. I’ve got an idea, let’s have a spelling contest.”
